The world around you is going to be SCREAMING at you to go on a diet and lose weight – that’s if it hasn’t already.
Your friends and family may have made New Year’s resolutions to lose weight, ‘get healthy’ (whatever that means) and get fit.
You may have been bombarded with ads about weight loss, joining the gym, losing the Covid-15 and so on.
Some of them may even be on the newest bandwagon promising weight loss without dieting… ‘just sensible eating’ they promise…
DON’T FALL FOR IT!
Focusing on weight loss will come with a high price:
Obsession with food;
Disconnection from your body, your appetite, your preferences and your needs;
Potentially an eating disorder (if you don’t already have one). And if you’re in recovery from one, relapse.
Instead, give yourself the gift of self-acceptance and self-compassion.
Giving yourself these gifts will actually deliver on the promises the diet gurus tell you weight loss will provide.
I know it’s not easy because we live in a fatphobic culture.
But that doesn’t make it any less true.
